Reliable sources told news agency CNS, that the loyal workers following incumbent State party chief Ghulam Ahmed Mir are not happy with the Tariq Hamid Karra as they have been feeling that Karra has hijacked the party and wants to control it as per his will.

Sources added that after the entry of senior leader Tariq Hamid Karra into the Congress party, majority of the senior party workers loyal to incumbent State party Chief Ghulam Ahmed Mir are disappointed. “The party workers feel that Tariq Hamid Karra is lobbying with some Central leaders to secure the position of State Congress President,” said a party worker wishing anonymity.

Sources said that State Congress party has been witnessing a deeper divide as almost all the party leaders have been issuing separate statements to the press for publication.

“Recently, some of the Mir loyalists expressed their displeasure over the growing influence of Tariq Hamid Karra in the party. They believe Karra has been trying to sideline the state party president, thus flouting the norms of the party rules” said a worker who claims to be neutral.

He added that Karra has been attracting more and more workers as they are sure about his bright future prospects. “Some of the party workers who revolve around Tariq Hamid Karra see him as a future CM of Jammu and Kashmir. If National Conference will form the next government with the support of Congress, the Chief Minister will be on rotational basis and Karra is sure to rule the state for at least three years,” the worker claimed adding that the division in Congress party will come in open prior to Assembly Elections in Jammu and Kashmir.
